Durga Navratri 2012 in KanakaDurga Temple,Vijayawada



Durga Navaratri at KanakaDurga temple of Vijayawada is a grand festival for the temple.Dasara Sharan Navaratri Utsavalu 2012 starts on October 16th and ends on October 24th with Dasara (Vijaya Dashami).

With Kalasha Sthapana Pooja,Celebrations will start at the temple.On Padyami, the first day of Navatri,Goddess Durga is decorated in Sri BalaTripura Sundari Devi Alamkaram.

On concluding day,Vijaya Dashami,Durga is worshiped in Sri Rajarajeshwari Devi Alankaram.

On Vijaya Dashami,the Navaratri celebrations will be concluded with Teppotsavam when KankaDurga is taken out for  a procession in the river Krishna.Teppotsavam 2012 date is 24th October and the time of starting of  Theppotsavam is 5 pm.

  1. Nice temple. You can drive up the hill or walk to reach the temple in about an hour. Vijaywada is also a thriving spot and attracts plenty of tourists. It is also said that the place owes its name to the fact that Goddess Durga chose to rest here after slaying a demon.
