5thday Of Devi Alamkaram & Naivedyam

Lalitha Panchami, also spelt as Lalita Panjami, is the most auspicious day in Durga Navratri puja.Lalitha Maha Tripura Sundari Devi is the form Goddess, worshipped on the fifth day of Durga Navratri in Vijayawada Kanaka Durga Devi Temple. Lalitha Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Durga Navaratri. In 2010, the date of Lalita Panchami is 12th October, 2010.

 Lalitha Panchami is dedicated to the Red Goddess, Lalita Tripura Sundari Devi, one of the forms of Goddess Shakti. The main purpose of Lalita devi avataram was to annihilate Bhadasur, a demon formed from the ashes of Kama deva.Sri Lalitha Maha Tripura Sundari Devi, a form of Supreme Goddess – Goddess Mother Shakti. Lalitha Devi sits on Sri Chakram and holds a bow of sugarcane and some other weapons. She has four arms and she sits on a ‘Simhasanam’.She also sits on Sri Chakram. Sri Chakram is the most sacred thing for Hindus.

Lalita Panchami is the Jayanthi or the appearance day of Goddess Lalitha. Hence, Lalitha Jayanti is also observed on Lalita Panchami. Lalita Tripura Sundari devi is worshipped on the fifth day during Durga Navaratri in South India. Goddess Skandamata is worshipped in some places on fifth day, whereas Upang Lalita Puja is performed in some other places. Chinnamastha devi is also worshipped on the fifth day of Durga Navratri pooja.

Naivedyam  to Goddess today is "Pulihora".It may be cooked or prepared with Lemon Juice or either with Tamarind Juice.
So ,I am going to post about My Tamarind Pulihora / Chinthapandu Pulihora to all of you .

Tamarind Rice / Chinthapandu Pulihora /Pulusu Chitrannam:


Ingredients:
  • Tamarind Juice-1 1/2 cup
  • Rice-3cups
  • Water-6cups
  • Turmeric / Haldi /Pasupu-a pinch
  • Salt-2tbsp
  • Oil-2tbsp
  • Groundnuts / Peanuts-few
  • Cashews-few
  • Curryleaves-6
  • Cuminseeds-1/2tsp
  • Mustardseeds-1/2tsp
  • Urad dal-1/2tsp
  • Chanadal-1/2tsp
  • Redchillies-4breaked
  • Hing/Inguva/Asafoetida-a pinch
  • Jaggery- optional
  • Kothimeer/Cilantro/Coriander leaves- few handful
Preparation:
  • Clean the rice with water.
  • Cook the rice by adding  water with little salt and set a side.
  • Heat the pan with oil,add the Mustard ,Cumin seeds and when they starts crackle add the Urad dal,Chanadal ,Curryleaves,redchillies ,Curryleaves and fry it. 
  • Add the Cashews and groundnuts ,let it fry till it turns golden color.
  • Now add a pinch of Hing.
  • Once the seasoning is done,add the tamarind juice,turmeric powder and cook till it starts boiling and bubbles out,add a little bit Jaggery during this stage if needed.
  • Now take a wide vessel,and spread the cooked rice by adding little salt.
  • Now shift the Seasoning of Tamarind to this rice and mix well with hand or spatula.
  • Garnish with Kothimeer and the tasy delicious Pulihora is ready!!
